In the process of designing new school models, school designers will consider and kick the tires of long-standing expectations about school, including:
New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO) and 4.0 Schools (4.0), with the support of Khan Academy, challenge you to bring to life a new generation of responsive, student-centered schools. We believe that truly innovative school models will be developed by bold individuals with a bias toward action and a willingness to test and regularly seek feedback from the students and families they’re designing for. By participating in the NOLA Future of School Challenge, you’ll be given the time, space, and resources you need to make your vision a reality.
You can't wait to learn through prototyping and testing your design. You can listen to a classroom of students and really hear what they are saying. You voraciously seek feedback, even if it means significant iteration or even going back to the drawing board.
At the end of the Fellowship, teams will pitch their school model idea to NSNO for the opportunity to receive continued incubation support throughout the charter application and school launch processes.
